LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, partcipants should be able to:

  • Identify the causes and consequences of polypharmacy particularly in an elderly population
  • Clarify past present indications for ACE-i/ARB in survivors of acute myocardial infarction
  • Contrast the role of beta blockers after myocardial infarction in the current era and the results of recent randomized trials.
  • Recognize the limitations of continued long-term use of drugs shown to be effective in randomized trials with a shorter follow-up period and the need for new trials of old drugs.
