• Describe how bacterial genome sequencing can be used to solve routine and unusual transmission scenarios in the hospital.
• Identify opportunities to use prospective sequencing for early detection of outbreaks and other patient safety issues.
• Assess potential cost savings and other nonclinical benefits of sequencing select healthcare-associated isolates.
