LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  1. Describe the benefits of risk reducing medication in specific situations: 

    1. High risk lesions (HRL): Atypical hyperplasia, LCIS 

    2. Strong family history of breast cancer 

  2. Review criteria when considering de-escalation of surveillance imaging with breast MRI 

  3. Describe the benefits of risk reducing medication:  

    1. High risk lesions (HRL) 

    2. Atypical hyperplasia, lobular carcinoma in situ 

    3. Strong family history of breast cancer 

  4. Review proposed criteria to consider role of de-escalation of surveillance imaging with breast MRI 

  5. Utilization of large de-identified database- Mayo Clinic Platform, to ask the question: “High risk women, who receive preventive endocrine therapy vs no preventive endocrine therapy: breast cancer outcomes/survival benefit 

  6. Summarize a retrospective study design to evaluate preventive endocrine therapy use vs no endocrine therapy and outcomes 

  7. Summarize future design of randomized clinical trial to assess mammogram/breast MRI, vs Mammogram and every other year breast MRI vs diagnostic CEDM annually
