DESCRIPTION
Neurology Grand Rounds are weekly conferences presented by Mayo and guest non-Mayo faculty, as well as senior residents. Topics presented encompass a wide array of neurologic concepts ranging from basic science work to the very clinical application of translational science research and finally our resident clinical pathological case conference.
In-Person and Live-Streamed; Weekly on Monday from 12:15-1:00 p.m.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Allied Health Professionals, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Speech Language Pathologists and Technologists.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Integrate new research information into clinical practice
- Identify information for patients on significance of new diagnostic tests for neurological disease
- Identify atypical forms of neurological diseases in patients
- Review how to implement new diagnostic tests for neurological diseases

Heather Clark, Ph.D. | Dr. Clark is the Chair of Speech Pathology in the Department of Neurology and Associate Professor in the College of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is board-certified by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences and is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Her clinical responsibilities include differential diagnosis of communication and swallowing disorders in adults and children. She serves as co-investigator in several projects examining the nature of speech, language, and swallowing impairment in degenerative neurologic disease. Dr. Clark has served as a topic chair for the ASHA convention, program chair of the Conference on Motor Speech, and chair of the fall conference of the North Carolina Speech Language Hearing Association. |
| Sherri Braksick, M.D. | Dr. Braksick is an Associate Professor in the College of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is board-certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a full-time neurointensivist and is also program director for the Neurocritical Care fellowship program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is the Neurology Section Editor for Mayo Clinic Proceedings and has research interests in brain death, medical education, and neurologic complications of critical illness. She also serves as an Associate Program Director of the Neurology Residency, overseeing the didactic curriculum, and is course director for neurosimulation for the residency program. |
| Lyell Jones, M.D. | Dr. Jones is a Professor of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is the Dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. | Stephanie Steel, M.D. | Dr. Steel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is board-certified in Neurology and Headache medicine. She is a full-time clinical staff primarily working in the community neurology practice as a general neurologist. She also works in the subspeciality Headache Clinic including headache procedures. Her special interests include education of trainees and primary care providers with a focus on headache management to improve patient access and care. |
| Derek Stitt, M.D. | Derek Stitt, M.D. is assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, Division of Neurology Education at Mayo Clinic Rochester. His primary interest is clinical education. He serves on the faculty for the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine Neuroscience Course and the Mayo Physician Assistant Training Program Neuroscience course. He is also the director of the Mayo neurology resident continuity clinic. He is a former Teacher of the Year award winner in the Department of Neurology.
