Live Webcast - Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Neurology (in cooperation with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Arizona Chapter)

This Live Webcast will present a state-of-the-art update on Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Neurology is designed to provide evidence-based strategies that focus on practical clinical management from a multidisciplinary approach when treating patients with these neurologic disorders.
 
We welcome a variety of specialists, primary care physicians, and advanced health care providers who have a specific interest in this field. Targeted specialties include: Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesia, Immunology and other related fields. 

The format will include a live-stream webcast including the latest clinical and laboratory research presented through didactic lecture, case vignettes, and interactive Q & A sessions.  Webcast participants will have the opportunity to present questions during the Q & A sessions.  Questions not addressed due to lack of time will be answered and posted on the course website following the conference.

New this year! Course participants are invited to submit patient case vignettes for faculty panel discussion. Send your submissions to: mca.cme@mayo.edu and add a subject line with “MS 2017 Case”.

Please Note: Your completed registration for this live-stream webcast confirms your participation via a logon connection. The webcast will be transmitted through external site, Chorus Call.  An e-mail will be sent with a link and login information approximately 10 days prior to the course.  The webcast link will be active 30 minutes prior to the start of the program (11:30AM - MST). Access will be available for viewing the course live in accordance with the published schedule, which takes place in Mountain-Standard-Time (MST). Please refer to the Time Zone Calculator for the start and end times in your state/time zone.  Please note that you must select “U.S.A. – Arizona – Phoenix” as the first location. The program will begin at 12:00 Noon (Mountain Standard Time) on Friday, February 10, 2017.

AMA PRA Category 1 credit will be available for both the live course and the live-stream webcast, but AAFP credit is only offered for the live course.

Target Audience

This course is designed to update the entire multidisciplinary team, including neurologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and all health care providers who treat patients with neurologic disorders.    

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Cite the mechanism of action, indications, and adverse events associated with recently-approved MS and autoimmune neurology disease-modifying therapies.
  • Identify which patient would be a candidate to try these new disease-modifying therapies or to switch from an existing one.
  • Implement safety guidelines in applying new disease-modifying therapies concurrently with other types of treatment.
  • Describe appropriate management of common MS symptoms.
