Marvin Rossi, M.D. , presents:

“White Matter Connectivity Planning for Modulating the Epileptogenic Circuit: Does it Matter?”

Dr. Marvin A. Rossi, MD, PhD founded SynaptiCOM.net, a three-tiered translational technology initiative within the RUSH Epilepsy Center, RUSH University Medical Center, Chicago, IL. The initiative's core aims include advancing mobile health (mHealth) strategies for rural epilepsy care with co-occurring mental health disorders, and next-generation minimally invasive injectable nanotransponder technology (U.S. Pats. 8,788,033; 9,302,114) for delivering targeted therapeutics.

His translational brain mapping tier for direct neuromodulation therapy is evolving a suite of innovative human neuroimaging techniques for visualizing the footprints of intractable epileptogenic brain networks. These techniques are, in turn, supporting the nanotechnology development tier of therapeutic nanodevices. The innovative brain mapping platforms, nanotechnology, and rural mHealth strategies aim to further evolve the next-generation epilepsy center for effectively treating medically refractory epilepsy.

Dr. Rossi’s translational technology initiative is energized by ongoing collaborative partners and sponsors that include industry, regional academic institutions, rural community service organizations, county, state and federal grant resources, private foundations, and valued philanthropy.

Learning objectives:

Define areas of new neuroscience knowledge and research

Identify Clinicopathologic (CPC) correlations of neurologic disease

Illuminate areas of practice-based improvement within the neurosciences based on advancing scientific research or Practice-based improvement projects.
