Melissa Cortez, M.D. presents:

“Autonomic dysfunction in headache Disorders”

Melissa Cortez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at University of Utah, where she is Founder and Director of the Autonomic Physiology Laboratory. Dr. Cortez is board-certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and completed her neurology residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident in her final year. Before returning to University of Utah in 2014, she served as a Fellow at the Mayo Clinic of Arizona, receiving specialized training in Clinical Neurophysiology and the management of Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Cortez’s research and clinical interests center on autonomic dysfunction in neurological disorders, including migraine, post-traumatic headache, craniofacial autonomic disorders, and autoimmune autonomic neuropathies.

 

Learning objectives:

Define areas of new neuroscience knowledge and research

Identify Clinicopathologic (CPC) correlations of neurologic disease

Illuminate areas of practice-based improvement within the neurosciences based on advancing scientific research or Practice-based improvement projects.
