The field of infectious diseases is constantly changing, posing challenges for front-line healthcare providers in the clinic and hospital settings. Emerging infections, multiple resistant pathogens, new diagnostics, guidelines, regulations, and antimicrobials require continuous learning. This course provides up-to-date, concise, evidence-based information and features lectures, case presentations and interactive discussions to enhance providers’ ability to diagnose, treat and prevent the infections commonly seen in practice.
Friday, January 21, 2022: Optional Pre-Course Coccidioidomycosis Symposium. Separate registration is required to attend a special edition of Friday noon "Internal Medicine Grand Rounds" followed by the Coccidioidomycosis 2022 Symposium. See the program for more details. Target Audience
Physicians and advanced practice providers (NP, PA, PharmDs) engaged in:Family Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Women’s Health, General Pediatrics, Geriatrics and anyone with interest in updating their knowledge of primary care management of Infectious Diseases and Coccidioidomycosis.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Devise new strategies and shorter treatments of common infections in an era of resistance
- Implement new strategies to prevent tuberculosis
- Assess the role and limitations of molecular diagnostics
- Determine how, when and to whom to prescribe antiviral medications for COVID-19

Hotel rooms are limited, and we suggest you make your lodging reservations early. A limited block of guest rooms have been reserved for attendees with a special course rate of $184 single or double occupancy per night at the Residence Inn Phoenix Desert View at Mayo Clinic, with group rate honored three days prior and three days following the course dates, based upon space availability. To make your reservation, call (480) 563-1500 before the room block fills and prior to the cut-off date of December 20, 2021. Please identify yourself as part of the Mayo Clinic Infectious Disease group. All reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card. The hotel’s room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes in effect at the time of check out. Parking Fee: $10.00 per vehicle, plus tax per day. Attendees are responsible for their own reservations, and standard hotel reservation cancellation policy will apply to individual reservations, which is 72 hours prior to arrival.
