This inaugural course bridges a critical knowledge gap by delivering comprehensive, evidence-based education on managing patients with substance use disorders. Designed for physicians, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers across diverse specialties and clinical settings—ranging from inpatient to outpatient, virtual to in-person, and rural to urban—it equips non-addiction specialists with practical skills and strategies to provide effective, compassionate care.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, residents/fellows, and advanced practice providers who are non-addiction specialist clinicians.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Integrate evidence-based skills in routinely screening for substance use disorder in patients across multiple clinical settings and scenarios.
- Determine medications for alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder to the appropriate patients with confidence across multiple clinical settings and scenarios.
- Manage intoxication, withdrawal and relapses of multiple substance use disorders with confidence across multiple clinical settings.
- Utilize non-stigmatizing and patient-centered language and approaches when interacting and treating patients with substance use disorders.
