PRESENTATION TITLE: In-Breast Tumor Recurrence After Breast-Conserving Therapy: Patient Selection and Reirradiation Strategies

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Define ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence after prior breast-conserving therapy
  • Describe the multidisciplinary evaluation of an in-breast recurrence and identify which patients are appropriate for salvage mastectomy versus repeat lumpectomy plus partial-breast reirradiation.
  • Summarize the evidence supporting second breast conservation with reirradiation
  • Compare available reirradiation approaches, outcomes and toxicity to guide treatment decisions
