Registration
The registration fee includes tuition, a comprehensive electronic course syllabus, continental breakfasts and break refreshments.
Although it is not Mayo School of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised.

Workshop Details
Addiction Medicine for Primary Care Providers
Wednesday, March 11 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Additional Fee: $200
The disease of addiction is often misunderstood which contributes to bias, limited recognition and poor treatment. The neurobiology of addiction has been well-established and is a way for physicians and other caregivers to understand some of the primary characteristics of this disease. Dr. Seppala will describe the main features of the neurobiology of addiction and how brain pathology drives maladaptive behaviors.
Non-Pain Symptom Management Workshop
Wednesday, March 11 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Additional Fee: $200
This workshop uses an interactive, case-based approach to teach evidence-based concepts in the symptom management of nausea and vomiting, constipation, dyspnea, active dying, delirium, anxiety, and depression for patients with serious, life-limiting illness. Additionally, the workshop includes a discussion on medical marijuana.
Injection Workshop
Thursday, March 12 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Additional Fee: $200
This workshop focuses on common office-based injections, including the shoulder, knee, ankle and foot, and thigh and buttock. Brief didactics are followed by hands-on opportunities to inject mannequins and exam live models. There is plenty of time for questions. Providers interested in starting or expanding an office injection practice will find this workshop helpful. Enrollment is limited.
Palliative Care Workshop: Critical Medical Conversations
Thursday, March 12 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Additional Fee: $200
This workshop uses an interactive, case-based approach to teach key communication techniques that providers use every day in practice. It focuses on specific communication techniques that help the provider address common scenarios such as breaking bad news, discussing code status, navigating transitions in care, broaching advanced care planning, and discontinuing or declining to start opioid medications.
Physical Exam
Friday, March 13 from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Additional Fee: $200
This workshop focuses on honing physical exam skills, with the opportunity to practice on live volunteers.
After introductory remarks covering basic physical examination considerations, participants rotate among five physical exam stations, focusing on the cervical spine, lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint and hip, shoulder, and knee. Each station involves personal remarks and hands-on instruction with a Mayo Clinic faculty instructor, and includes full use of a live model for demonstration and participant practice.
A syllabus containing the pertinent take-home points from each physical exam station is provided. Total instruction time is 3.5 hours.
