The Ice Hockey Summit III: Action on Concussion will address advances in concussion diagnosis, treatment and prevention with an emphasis on prioritized action items to improve safety in the sport of ice hockey. All stakeholders play an important role, including health care professionals, scientists, coaches, officials, administrators and equipment manufacturers.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is health care providers in any of the following specialty areas: orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, family medicine, general practice, radiology, emergency medicine and psychology. This includes physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physician assistants, nurses, biomedical engineers, engineers, neuroscientists. Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Describe the epidemiology of concussions in hockey
  • Classify concussion prevention strategies 
  • Define the most reliable diagnostic concussion tests
  • Identify novel treatment methods to enhance concussion recovery 
  • Integrate promising science and clinical care into action plans to address hockey concussions.
