The field of infectious diseases is constantly changing posing challenges for front-line healthcare providers in the clinic and hospital settings. Emerging infections, multiply resistant pathogens, new diagnostics, guidelines, regulations, and antimicrobials require continuous learning. This course will provide up to date, concise and evidence based presentations to keep you on top of the infectious challenges you face daily in practice. The course will feature lectures, cases, debates and interactive discussions to enhance the attendees’ knowledge to diagnose, treat and prevent infections they will commonly see in practice.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the clinical manifestations of Coccidiomycosis
  • Demonstrate how to prevent Clostridium difficile infection
  • Recognize emerging infectious issues for travelers
  • Evaluate patients with hepatitis C, HIV and STDs
  • Choose appropriate antimicrobials wisely in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Manage antimicrobial toxicities and allergy
