This is an online course recommended for primary care providers. The course combines Mayo Clinic Talks podcast interviews about common musculoskeletal injuries and their clinical presentations with video demonstrations of joint exams as performed by Mayo Clinic orthopedic specialists.

Target Audience

This activity is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in the primary care setting.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  •  Describe the proper technique for examining the major joints causing symptoms as commonly seen in a primary care practice.
  •  Describe when a primary care provider should refer patients with joint symptoms to an orthopedist or sports medicine specialist for evaluation.
  •  Recall the management of traumatic brain injuries in children.
