- Identify the components of a comprehensive assessment in the geriatric population
- Discuss screening tools for comprehensive assessment in geriatric population to identify deficits and formulate appropriate intervention plan.
- Describe physical therapy treatment strategies to optimize strength, balance and/or mobility for individuals in the geriatric population.
- Describe occupational therapy treatment strategies for maximizing independence in daily activities, address cognitive changes, and address safety for individuals in the geriatric population.
- Recognize the impact of exercise on musculoskeletal problems and chronic disease management in geriatric population.
- Recognize the importance of an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to manage chronic diseases common in the geriatric population.
- Discuss communication strategies to optimize patient care and decrease caregiver burden.
- Apply principles of motivational interview and emotional intelligence to develop therapeutic alliance with geriatric population.
