This conference will provide a state-of-the-art discussion and instruction on comprehensive evaluation and management of voice disorders and related rehabilitation techniques. The course format will include evidence-based lectures, panel discussions with case presentations, and will provide the opportunity to interact with Mayo and guest faculty members.
In addition, two optional workshops are available – separate registration is required:
- TEP Management for Voice Restoration Workshop (Optional for SLPs)
This work-shop will share current trends and practices in post-laryngectomy rehabilitation and offer the attendees an opportunity to participate in voice prosthesis care and management. Following a didactic session of information sharing regarding voice, swallowing and pulmonary challenges in the TL population, a demonstration with patient volunteers will allow attendees to learn techniques of tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis placement and assist in prosthesis and HME selection. Participants will be able to examine and trouble-shoot the use of custom products and accessories for the total laryngectomee.
- Office-Based Laryngology Procedures – Hands-On Lab (Optional for MDs)
This hands-on workshop will cover all aspects of laryngology office-based procedures. The first part of the course consists of technique discussion by experts in the field. Following the discussion, participants have the opportunity to get 1:1 training on the various procedures; including transnasal esophagoscopy, transnasal biopsy, vocal fold injection, office onabotulinumtoxinA injections, and office KTP laser ablation. Mannequins and lasers will be available.
Note: If you are unable to attend the live-course, you may register for the live-stream webcast (general session only), which will include the option to submit questions to the faculty.
