Bio: Dr. Megan Potilechio is originally from the suburbs of Chicago. Prior to medicine, Dr. Potilechio worked as a personal trainer with a focus on improving physical limitations for people with neurodegenerative disorders and chronic disease. She attended North Central College in Naperville Illinois, where she studied Biology. She earned her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD school of Medicine.

 

Bio: Dr. Wenger-  Undergraduate: BA Political Science and Biochemistry, University of Arizona (2006)

Graduate: MS International Commerce and Policy, Valparaiso University (2007)

Founding management team for Neurowave Medical Technologies, developer of OTC and prescription neuromodulation devices for the management of various nausea indications. Oversaw manufacturing and product assurance at manufacturing and development locations in Malaysia and China.

Medical School: Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (2017)

Residency: Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine (Emergency Medicine)

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

-Review anticoagulation guidelines in advanced cancer.

-Distinguish clinical manifestations of critical limb ischemia from other etiologies of pain.

-Identify areas for improvement to promote ethical integrity and improve patient care.

-This case will highlight cultural considerations related to goals of care discussions and the importance of understanding resource availability before presenting care options to patient.

-At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to: identify cultural considerations important to goals of care discussions, identify important resource considerations for discharge planning, and recommend alternative options for hospice discharge when resources are limited.
