Bio:

Originally from a farm in North Dakota, I attended medical school at the University of North Dakota before making the big move to Phoenix, Arizona for residency. Since graduating residency, I have worked as an internal medicine residency chief and been appointed an assistant professor of medicine. Much of my time this past year has been spent in education, including delivering lectures, conducting small group discussions, running simulation sessions, and developing curricula.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

Define passive vs active learning.

Apply different methods to incorporate active learning into a traditional lecture format.

Identify barriers to active learning.
