1. Review the current strategy utilized in many medical schools for teaching the physical exam and the potential weaknesses of this method.
2. Discuss the value of teaching at the bedside and the current trends around this practice in medical education.
3. Describe the hypothesis driven physical exam and discuss how it can be utilized in everyday practice to teach, assess, and evaluate students and residents.
4. Present some of the faculty development resources currently available for those interested in education here at Mayo Clinic and through national organizations.
