Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how child development is the basic science of pediatric medicine.
  • Define developmental delay, dissociation, and deviation.
  • Apply rigorous medical training and accumulated experience to address developmental-behavioral concerns the same way any other presenting medical concern is addressed, rather than relying exclusively on developmental screening checklists.
  • Describe the spectrum (within developmental streams) and continuum (across developmental streams) of developmental-behavioral diagnoses.
