Series date:
01/02/2020 - 12:15pm to 12/31/2020 - 12:15pm

Mayo Clinic is committed to taking care of our learners and staff as we address the COVID-19 situation. In order to help protect our communities, and out of an abundance of caution, the School of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is suspending live courses and conferences through December 31, 2020.

At this time, CPD suggests suspending or changing delivery method for Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) with more than 10 in-person attendees. See individual RSS sessions for any changes to dates, times and delivery methods.

DESCRIPTION
This activity is held weekly on Thursday, 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

This conference is the Departmental forum in which residents and visiting professors present clinical topics of interest, clinical cases, or personal research interests.  Each resident presents one conference per year for each training year. Topics are presented which represent an area of interest for the presenter and an area of clinical utility for the general audience.  A faculty advisor is chosen and it is the responsibility of that advisor or the course director to make certain that the topic has general appeal. Topic suggestions are solicited from the audience as well.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Multidisciplinary (Physicians, mid-level health care providers, allied health staff, medical students)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize key updates for general pediatric topics presented
  • Summarize current practice patterns compared with proposed innovations/updates
  • Assess systems issues for medical errors (real or potential) through root cause analysis (quarterly systems based errors presentations)
  • Describe how to provide constructive feedback to presenters (to aid them in their growth as public speakers) through the use of a standardized evaluation form distributed and collected at each session (these forms are used for feedback sessions with presenters by the course director)
