This workshop will provide hands-on training of wound bed preparation using sharp debridement. Participants will be provided documentation of
completion.

Target Audience

Physicians, pedorthists, podiatrists, physical therapists, dietitians, advanced practice providers (NP/PA, RN, CNS, LPN, etc.), and others who care for patients with chronic wounds.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the principles underlying the care of chronic wounds
  • Describe systemic factors that may impair healing
  • Describe specific diagnostic tests related to wound assessment 
  • Discuss pressure ulcer injury, prevention, staging, and management
  • Discuss offloading and management of neuropathic wounds
  • Describe interventions which can contribute to healing or prevention of venous wounds
  • Discuss surgical revascularization and debridement
  • Discuss acute interventions to stop bleeding
  • Describe best practices to treat soft tissue infection while practicing antibiotic stewardship
