Objectives:
- Discuss to the current methodolgy of investigation of the gut microbiome
- Review current state of what has been shown to influence the gut microbiome
- Evaluate the current evidence of the effect of exercise on the gut microbiome
- Review the potential mechanisms for the effect of exercise on the gut microbiome
- Identify the role of exercise as it relates to being a potential modifier for diseases such as colon cancer, inflammatory bowel, disease, obesity and metabolic disease and mental and cognitive health
