Prevalence and Correlates of Hypersomnolence in the U.S. General Adult Population

Bhanu Kolla, M.D.

 

Introduction
Dr. Bhanu Kolla is currently a Senior Associate Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Center for Sleep Medicine, Mayo Clinic and a Mayo Clinic Scholar completing his Addiction Psychiatry fellowship. He completed his medical training from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India. He then completed residency training in Psychiatry from the University of Oxford, UK and residency training in Psychiatry and fellowship training in Sleep Medicine from Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatry, UK and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has received the Laughlin fellowship from the American College of Psychiatrists. His research and clinical interests include sleep disturbances in alcohol use disorders and the intersection of Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine.  He has authored over 23 peer reviewed publications and 5 book chapters.

Petitioning for Involuntary Commitment to Chemical Dependency Treatment from Inpatient Medical and Surgical Services:  A Descriptive Study

Ian Lamoureux, M.D.

Introduction
Dr. Lamoureux is currently completing his fourth year of residency training in General Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, and his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson campus.  Clinically, Dr. Lamoureux’s primary area of interest is the intersection of psychiatry and the law, with particular interest, but not limited to: mental state at the time of the offense, competency to stand trial, violence risk assessment, stalking, and impaired professionals.  Following completion of his residency training in June 2017, Dr. Lamoureux will enter into forensic psychiatry fellowship training under the direction of Dr. Phillip Resnick at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

  1. Describe the rate at which chemically dependent (CD) persons are successfully committed from an inpatient medical/surgical floor.

  2. Recognize the limitations of CD commitment.
