Presentation: Metformin Enhances Antidepressant Response Rate to Ketamine in a Rodent Model of Antidepressant Treatment Resistance
Bio: Being a graduate student in the School of Medicine at Deakin University, much of my work is built collaborations with principle investigators within the Mayo Clinic, Karolinska Institutet, and the University of Minnesota. Much of my research involves ketamine’s antidepressant activity, neuroimaging, treatment resistance, biomarker identification research, mechanisms and neural systems of depression, neuroinflammation, kynurenine metabolism, and deep brain stimulation. My primary focus is the examination of stress systems through the use of ketamine in preclinical models of treatment-resistant depression and through the identification of biomarkers of kynurenine metabolism and mTOR activation. The goal of this is to provide further preclinical and clinical research toward the development of novel pharmacological treatment options designed to be effective in treatment-resistant contexts.
