Introduction
Dr. Steven Girardeau has a doctorate in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist. He is the 2017 Minnesota Psychological Association (MPA) President as well as the certification chair of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy National Certification and Accreditation Association (DBTNCAA) and the director of clinical services for MHS, one of the largest DBT-specialized practices in the Midwest. He has overseen the care of thousands of clients with co-morbid major mental health and personality disorders in an intensive outpatient setting. Dr. Girardeau has been a therapist for over two decades, specializing in providing clinical services to clients with serious and persistent mental health diagnoses as well as chemical use disorders. He has worked as a clinician, clinical director, training director, program supervisor and a clinical team consultant. He has provided trainings at national/state/regional/local events and created training programs in the areas of DBT, abuse, safety planning and treatment of clients with dual disorders.
Dr. Joel Oberstar is PrairieCare’s CEO and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist seeing outpatients in Brooklyn Park. Dr. Oberstar is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is just completed a one-year term as President of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society.
