TITLE:  Putting Implementation Science into Practice:  Strategies to Integrate Evidence-Based Psychotherapy across Behavioral Health Settings

PRESENTERS:  Ajeng Puspitasari, Ph.D., L.P. and Eric Pease, D.O., M.B.A.

INTRODUCTION:
Dr. Ajeng Puspitasari is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Director for the John E. Herman Home and Treatment Facility and Adult Transitions Program at Mayo Clinic Rochester Department of Psychiatry and Psychology. As a Clinical Psychologist, her clinical practice focuses on behavioral therapy such as Behavioral Activation, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her research focuses on strategies to disseminate and implement evidence-based psychotherapy in diverse behavioral health settings. She completed research fellowship in Implementation Science at Indiana University and was part of a National Institute of Mental Health multi-sites trial to assess strategies to implement measurement-based care in community-mental health setting. She has provided training and consultation for healthcare providers and systems on strategies to implement evidence-based psychotherapy across the United States and Internationally.

Dr. Eric Pease is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellow at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Pease earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in neuroscience from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he completed a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership from Rockhurst University while concurrently attending medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Pease began his graduate medical education as a General Psychiatry resident at Mayo Clinic before transitioning to his current role. His areas of interest include quality improvement, healthcare finance, as well as medical student and resident education.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Define the role of implementation science in clinical practice
  • Assess individual and organizational factors that may facilitate or hinder successful evidence-based practice implementation
  • Identify implementation strategies to support adoption and sustainment of evidence-based practice
