TITLE: Adverse Childhood Experiences: The Case of Forced Family Separation at the Mexican Border
PRESENTER: Bernardo Ng, MD, DFAPA
INTRODUCTION:
Dr. Ng was born in Mexicali, Mexico. He is a medical graduate from the University of Nuevo Leon in Mexico, who completed residency both at Texas Tech University and University of California, San Diego, in the United States. Ng is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Psychosomatic Medicine, and the Consejo Mexicano de Psiquiatría. His research interests include Latinos’ Mental Health, Cognitive disorders, and US-Mexico border issues. His activities include the direction of the Sun Valley Behavioral and Research Centers in Imperial California and Centro Geriátrico Nuevo Atardecer in Mexicali, Mexico. Ng is a clinical assistant professor at UCSD, President of the American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry, and President Elect of the Asociación Psiquiátrica Mexicana. He is also Chair of the Council of International Psychiatry of the American Psychiatric Association, and Advisor for the National Hispanic and Latino Mental Health Technology Transfer Center Network. He has 77 publications, including 35 original articles, 29 abstracts, 6 book chapters, 4 handbooks, and 3 books, including the self-help book “Depression kidnapped my wife: A guide for husbands who want to help.”
