Dr. Kate Zelic is a second-year postdoctoral fellow in medical psychology at Mayo Clinic, specializing in clinical child psychology. She was awarded her B.A. in psychology and communication studies from DePaul University and her M.A. in clinical psychology from Kent State University. Dr. Zelic completed a pre-doctoral psychology internship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Kent State University in 2017. Dr. Zelic’s primary clinical and research interests are focused on mood disorders treatment in children and adolescents. She is currently involved with projects examining the effectiveness of evidence-based treatments in an integrated family-based partial hospitalization program for children and adolescents with mood disorders, with particular interest in the feasibility and acceptability of mindfulness-based intervention components.

Dr. Elliot Handler received BA degrees in Biology and Psychology from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. He then pursued his MD at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, CO. After obtaining his MD, Dr. Handler pursued his general adult psychiatry residency in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, Mayo Clinic Rochester.  Dr. Handler is currently completing his final year of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is Co-

Chief Fellow of the program here at Mayo Clinic.  Dr. Handler is passionate about clinical care and education, with particular interest in psychodynamic and insight-oriented psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and interdisciplinary care.

  2. Recognize the potential benefits of parental mindfulness training.
