Wendy Moore is currently the Nurse Administrator for Department of Psychiatry |Apheresis|Blood Donor Center at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She holds dual academic rank as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. Prior to current role she has been a nurse at Mayo Clinic for 38 years working in Acute Psychiatry, the Pain Rehab Program and Nurse Manager for the Center for Sleep Medicine. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing at Rochester Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Augsburg College, Minneapolis MN and a master’s degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Mary, Bismarck North Dakota. She is Nurse Executive Board Certified, a silver Mayo Quality Fellow and a past Mayo Nursing National Quality Forum Scholar. Wendy is past President of the Respiratory Nursing Society and was the organizations recipient of the 2015 Leadership Award and the 2016 Founders Award. She has translated her research into the development of patient education videos collaboratively with Mayo patient education and these have received 3 National Health Information Awards and 3 Telly video awards for patient education. She has participated in the role of editor and content expert for over 50 patient education and patient program materials. She also co –authored/developed a CME program for sleep and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) for the CDC.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Summarize traditional psychological and behavioral treatments for insomnia.
- Differentiate insomnia interventions from a stepped model approach to management of insomnia.
- Analyze and review published studies exploring new delivery approaches for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).
- Determine implications for care models for CBT-I in psychiatry practice settings.
