Neuropsychological Performance Across Clinical Variants of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

Elizabeth Boots, Ph.D.

Introduction

Dr. Liz Boots is currently a second-year adult clinical neuropsychology fellow here at Mayo Clinic. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed her internship training in clinical neuropsychology at the University of California San Diego/VA San Diego Healthcare System. Her clinical focus is on neuropsychological assessment of patients with neurodegenerative disease. Her research uses cognitive and neuroimaging methods to understand risk and resilience factors in aging and neurodegenerative disease with an emphasis on health disparities, as well as application of digital assessment in neurodegenerative disease. We are so pleased that Liz will be staying at Mayo Clinic after she finishes her fellowship to continue this work.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize clinical and neuropathological correlates of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
  • Differentiate neuropsychological performances among clinical variants of PSP.
  • Describe potential role of digital cognitive assessment in PSP.

Speaker #2:

Creating Safe Spaces in Medical and Therapeutic Settings: Strategies to Engage Marginalized Communities in Treatment

Jasmine Berry, Ph.D.

Introduction

Dr. Berry earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri. She did her residency at Emory University School of Medicine where she focused on pediatric acute and chronic pain, pediatric HIV, and serious mental illness in LGBTQ+ communities and communities of color. Her research has broadly focused on the intersection of sleep and pain in pediatric and adult populations, with an emphasis on health disparities.

Dr. Berry has a special interest in increasing treatment entry and treatment engagement for health and mental health related concerns for communities of color.
