DESCRIPTION
Monthly educational didactic series on core topics in Psychiatry and Psychology addressing recent scientific advancements, evolving standards of care and case-based learning.  Features a variety of speakers from within the Mayo Clinic in Arizona Department of Psychiatry and Psychology as well as outside speakers. 

Live-Streamed; Monthly on the 4th Tuesday from 12:10-1:10 p.m.

allied health professionals, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physicians, psychologists, resident fellows and social workers

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the different types of sleep disorders including narcolepsy, parainsomnia's and restless leg syndrome. 
  • Inspect effective management and treatment strategies for agitated patients in the hospital setting.
  • Review Disaster Psychiatry principles. 
  • Examine the overlap of sleep disordered symptoms amongst individuals with a psychiatric comorbidity.
  • Discuss the global mental health care needs, focusing on the disparities in access to care, the impact of mental health disorders on different populations, and the challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries in providing adequate mental health services.
