CERTAIN (Checklist for Early Recognition and Treatment of Acute Illness and iNjury) is a first time course that is designed and developed to standardize the approach of evaluation and treatment of acutely decompensating patients.

1. CERTAIN has been shown to improve performance of clinical providers faced with simulated emergencies.
2. It has been implemented in intensive care units (ICU) with variable resources across five continents.
3. This interactive course will integrate simulation-based training based adult learning theory for the learners to integrate the CERTAIN approach to their daily acute patient care (rounding and admission).

Registration Fee: $1,200.00

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Define the importance of managing acutely ill and injured patients by the standardized, systematic and structured approach.
  • Incorporate the CERTAIN approach (admission checklist) to manage admission/resuscitation of acutely ill and injured patients.
  • Incorporate the CERTAIN approach (rounding checklist) to perform daily rounding for acutely ill and injured patients. 
  • Demonstrate the prompter’s role to provide real-time feedback to the team during the admission/resuscitation and rounding using the CERTAIN checklist.
