Advancing Academic Career Excellence For Women 2025
**This course is for Mayo Clinic Personnel Only**
This course offers Live (in-person) and Livestream (virtual) attendance options
Course Directors: Young Erben, M.D. and Claire Haga, M.D.
March 11, 2025 - Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville, Florida
This course is being offered to increase the number of women faculty and staff members who initiate scholarly activity and achieve academic appointments (instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor). For various reasons, female faculty members achieve associate and professor rank at a rate lower than their male counterparts. This is true both within and outside Mayo. Additionally, many faculty and staff are encouraged to engage in scholarly activity yet have less experience. This course proposes to raise awareness of the steps needed for women to advance their scholarly and academic careers.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nursing leaders (directors, managers and supervisors), administrative leaders and emerging leaders.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify tools and resources to identify a mentor to collaborate research for a publication
- Improve awareness of research resources for funding and statistical support
- Develop a personal action plan with next steps for progressing academically
Attendance at any Mayo Clinic course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the skills, knowledge or performance of any care or procedure(s) which may be discussed or taught in this course.
