DESCRIPTION

Renal Biopsy Conference - This series is held weekly on Friday, Noon - 1 p.m.

Consultants, fellows and visiting professors present a 45 minute discussion topic which is intended to be a comprehensive review after which there is a 10-15 minute period for questions.  These "state-of-the-art" lectures are directed at the faculty and fellow level.  

TARGET AUDIENCE
The audience is primarily the physicians in our division, but all members of the division, i.e. nurses, NP/PAs and allied health staff are encouraged to attend.  We advertise the Grand Rounds title and speaker name throughout the institution which allows other areas/divisions to attend if they wish.  

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Diagnose various kidney diseases based on biopsy findings
  • Distinguish among the different morphologic features of kidney disease by reviewing biopsy specimens with clinicians and renal pathologists
  • Debate optimal treatment options in the context of biopsy findings
