LEARNING OBJECTIVES - Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize common forms of psychological distress and psychiatric illness associated with cardiovascular disease, including mood, anxiety, and stress-related symptoms
- Apply practical, patient centered psychosocial assessment tools and strategies that social workers use to identify and manage psychological distress and co-occurring psychiatric symptoms among individuals with cardiovascular disease in routine cardiac rehabilitation care
- Describe key screening pathways and evidence-based treatment approaches, both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic, used to manage psychological distress in patients with cardiovascular disease
- Recognize how interdisciplinary collaboration, including coordinated roles of psychiatry and social work, enhances the management of psychological distress in cardiac rehabilitation
