2019 Mayo Clinic Urology Review

The course is designed to provide a comprehensive review and update within the various fields of urology. Our breadth of experts will cover topics ranging from urologic oncology, stones, endourology, pediatrics, pelvic reconstruction, incontinence, and general urology. Educational focus will include the evaluation and management of malignant and benign urologic diseases with discussion on innovative technologies and management options to better serve our patients.

Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and healthcare providers specializing throughout the spectrum of clinical urology.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate recent advances in imaging for, as well as local and systemic therapy of, advanced prostate carcinoma.
- Recognize treatment outcomes after proton beam therapy for patients with prostate cancer.
- Describe the management of small renal masses.
- Apply the techniques involved with minimally-invasive renal surgery, including partial nephrectomy and nephroureterectomy, and be able to manage complications related to robotic renal surgery.
- Recognize the role of adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapy for kidney cancer.
- Describe BCG-refractory bladder cancer and recognize the options for management available for these patients.
- Evaluate the use of mesh in pelvic surgery as well as the management of mesh-related complications.
- Explain management and treatment options for recurrent urinary tract infections and prostatitis.
- Explain standard care for the more common pediatric urologic emergencies.
- Recognize the appropriate perioperative preparation of patients for urologic surgical procedures, including assessing anesthetic risk and managing periprocedural anticoagulation.
