The 6th Annual Anesthesiology Update presents the latest updates at the forefront of anesthesiology that you can apply to your practice immediately. Topics include pre-operative preparation of the surgical patient, the patient with liver disease and lung transplant patients; obstetric analgesic techniques; care of the congenital heart patient in the operating room; care of the ambulatory patient in the chronic pain clinic; pharmacogenetics for anesthesia; and quality improvement techniques. Target Audience
This course is designed for practicing anesthesiologists, CRNAs, anesthesiology assistants, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and all other perioperative healthcare providers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss hemorrhage in the obstetric patient.
- Discuss the alternatives for intraoperative care for addressing pain management for the pediatric patient coming to the OR.
- Discuss care of the patient coming to the GI endoscopy suite requiring anesthesia.
- Describe updates for caring for the patient with CHD coming to surgery.
- Discuss basic principles and care of the patient undergoing surgery with neuro devices in place.
- Describe caring for and accessing the critically ill patient undergoing surgery.
- Describe the basis for TEG values for coagulopathy in the OR and ICU .
- Discuss the care of patients with indwelling cardiac devices.
- Describe how to treat the patient with endocardial stents during surgery.

Pellston Regional Airport (PLN):
Pellston Regional Airport is located 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. Air taxi service between the Pellston Regional Airport and Mackinac Island Airport is available 24 hours a day. For information, call Great Lakes Air at (906) 643-7327.
Commercial Airlines:
Commercial air service to Pellston is available daily through Delta Airlink in Detroit.
Limousine and Shuttle Service:
Mackinaw Shuttle is available at the Pellston, Michigan Airport for taxi service between the Pellston Airport and the Mackinaw City ferry docks along with other Michigan cities on a 24-hour basis. This service is also available on a charter basis. Reservations are recommended.
