November 6 - 9, 2025 - Conrad Orlando - Orlando, Florida

2025 will be the seventh Mayo Cardio-Oncology course. Each year, the course directors have improved the educational content in response to feedback from attendees and speakers to try to better meet the needs of the audience and the cardio-oncology community. The goal remains to host a course that will be educational for both those active in clinical practice and research in cardio-oncology, as well as for those hoping to expand their practice into the field of cardio-oncology. Additionally, this course aims to broaden the scope to appeal to a diverse audience as cardio-oncology is a specialty that requires multidisciplinary collaboration for optimal patient care. This course reviews the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiac and vascular diseases of cancer patients throughout the continuum of their care including heart failure, myocardial ischemia, hypertension, thromboembolism, and arrhythmia. The course is directed towards the spectrum of providers who care for cancer patients to enable them to recognize the cardiovascular risk of their patients and take action to minimize this risk. This includes physicians, advance practice providers, pharmacists, and nurses in cardiology, hematology-oncology, primary care, and hospital internal medicine. The course will include lectures from experts as well as interactive case-based and question and answer sessions.

The objectives of the board review sessions are to:

  • Solidify knowledge gained throughout the course by reviewing board style questions and answers with cardio-oncology experts
  • Help prepare participants for the IC-OS Cardio-Oncology Board Certification certificate exam

Target Audience

This course is designed for general cardiologists, heart failure specialists, and advanced practice providers working in cardiology who either currently practice cardio-oncology or aim to expand their practice into the field to optimize the care of this patient population. The course is also designed for providers in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine as they are often the first to encounter and diagnose patients with cardiotoxicity related to cancer therapies.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Develop an approach to the prevention of cancer therapeutics related cardiotoxicity.
  • Develop an approach to the management of cancer therapeutics related cardiotoxicity.
  • Summarize guideline based cardiovascular surveillance during cancer therapy associated with a risk of cardiovascular toxicity.
  • Identify an approach to the integration of multimodality imaging into the cardio-oncology practice.
  • Review advances in the management of TTR and AL cardiac amyloidosis.
  • Identify key diagnostic modalities for early detection of cardiac toxicity in cancer patients.
  • Review current therapeutic interventions for carcinoid valvular heart disease.
  • Assess the cardiovascular risk profile of individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer.
  • Recognize unique risk factors for hypertension in cancer patients, including treatment-related factors and comorbidities.
