Presentation Title: “Imaging Biomarkers in Microsurgical Treatment of Lymphedema”
Speakers:
Case Discussion by Sarah Mantia, CGC
Dr. Forte, Dr. Fatemi, and Dr. Alizad will be discussing the novel ultrasound-based technology that may be used to quantitatively assess lymphedema progression and monitor treatment response. As in many diseases, lymphedema changes the mechanical properties of tissue. This technique can be readily translated into clinical practice, including surgical fields by addressing the need for noninvasive monitoring. With this advanced ultrasound method, it opens the way to improve patient outcomes and providing an inexpensive way of monitoring the progression of lymphedema.
