Mayo Clinic's Neuro and Intensive Care: Review, Workshops and Controversies 2026 is a CME course designed for medical professionals who care for patients with neurological/neurosurgical emergencies, acute stroke and brain hemorrhage, acute brain injury, coma and disorders that require hospital, emergency department, and intensive care unit evaluation and management. The course provides a mixture of didactic, case-based and evidence-based guideline review and workshops. Pharmacotherapy and ICU EEG workshops utilize audience participation in on-screen quizzes and share protocols regarding osmotherapy for raised intracranial pressure and antiepileptic drug therapy.

Call for Abstracts

Overview: An e- poster session for presentation of original research dedicated to the field of Neurocritical Care will be held at the meeting. Submitted abstracts may include: ongoing clinical trials in neurocritical care, outcome studies, quality improvement or practice innovations, and interesting, case series, case control studies, or challenging case reports. Posters will be peer-reviewed. At least one of the authors must register and attend the conference.

Abstract Eligibility: Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered for the conference. Abstracts will be peer reviewed.

Submission Deadline: The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, April 3, 2026.

Notification of Results: All primary authors will be notified within 1 week after the submission deadline if their abstract has been selected for the e-poster session, and details regarding abstract presentation will follow.

* Accepted abstract recipients or an approved non-author presenter must register for the meeting.

Target Audience

This course is designed for medical professionals trained in neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, critical care medicine, neurocritical care, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and anesthesia. ARNPs, PAs, paramedics/EMS personnel, pharmacists, and physical, occupational, and speech therapists who care for patients with neurological emergencies may also benefit.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Define common neurological and neurosurgical emergencies
  • Review updates in best practices of neuro/neurosurgical critical care
  • Review the approach to diagnosis of basic and advanced neurocritical care conditions and diseases
  • Outline strategies for best practice and evidence-based medicine updates in neuro-critical care
  • Discuss pathophysiologic management of neurocritical care conditions
