The modern care of patients who suffer from challenging clinical neuroscience problems requires a multidisciplinary team. This course provides neuroscience care team members with the latest advances and innovations in complex brain, spinal and peripheral nerve disorders including brain and skull base tumors, neurovascular diseases with complex arteriovenous malformations, spinal disorders including scoliosis, acute stroke, epilepsy, and other challenging and important neuroscience frontiers.

Student Scholarship Opportunity: Call for Abstracts!

Students interested in attending have the opportunity to receive their course registration fee waived. 

To apply, students must submit one of the two options below: 

  1. Submit a 300 word abstract based on previous research related to Neurosurgery

  2. Write an essay that discusses the topic “What is the Future of Neuroscience Patient Care.” Submit a 300 word synopsis that adequately summarizes your proposal. 

If selected, students will be expected to bring their submitted research abstract or essay on a poster to be featured during the conference. 

Scholarship Submission Eligibility: To qualify, you must be an APP student or medical student. 

Submission Guidelines:
- One submission per presenting author.
- Abstracts/ Essay Summaries must be 300 words or less.
- You must submit proof of being an APP or medical student
- Provide a letter of reference from a professor or individual familiar with your desire to pursue a career in neuroscience in the future.

- All submissions must be received by January 24, 2024, 11:59 PM PST for consideration.

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, and any allied health professionals practicing in neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, medical oncology, and primary care.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify modern approaches to enhancing safety in the operating room for the operating team members.
  • Review recent literature and current knowledge regarding familial neurovascular diseases and the implications for screening and management.
  • Review the updated guidelines on indication for acute stroke embolectomy.
  • Examine the increased level of evidence for the use of embolectomy for patients with large ischemic strokes.
  • Review common neurosurgical clinical scenarios encountered in the emergency room.
  • Discuss common clinical scenarios encountered in a neurosurgical clinic.
  • Assess recent data on the effect of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage on morbidity rate.
