Minority Women in Research Symposium 2018

The symposium will focus on increasing community and patient engaged research (CPER). The symposium offers the opportunity for CPER teams to host sessions related to best practices in CPER including patient-outcomes research, precision medicine, community based participatory research (CBPR), community-partner based research, and other types of engaged research.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, healthcare providers, biomedical researchers, students, community members and patients interested in advancing community and patient engagement in research, as well as, to gain skills to create longstanding and sustainable researcher partnerships.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe effective methods to ensure community health needs are addressed through research
  • Share approaches to address community ethical concerns about research
  • Determine ways to develop trusting relationships for dissemination of community and patient engagement in research
