Hospital Medicine Simulation-Based Boot Camp for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants is a simulation-based, two-day course designed for the novice learner, ideally within the first year of their hospital-based NP/PA position. This course is full of practical information taught by faculty that use current guidelines and share tidbits of experience to help successfully care for acutely ill hospitalized patients. It is filled with a variety of commonly encountered hospital scenarios followed by interactive and informal discussion. Open dialog is encouraged. Participants should feel free to wear scrubs and comfortable shoes, bring a stethoscope, and reference/clinical materials used in daily practice. Despite being called boot camp there are no physical fitness elements to the course.

This is a one-day simulation-based course that will fulfill the simulation requirements for Part IV of MOCA. It will consist of a series of simulation scenarios followed by debriefing periods with a variety of anesthetic challenges. Attendees will be sharing the day with other anesthesiologists. Cases will be ones that any board-certified anesthesiologist ought to be striving to manage. They will consist of cases requiring team management skills, as well as skills managing hemodynamic and respiratory instability. Participants are informed that it is not a test and is not graded. This is an opportunity to participate in experiential learning: where they will experience observing a case and then have an opportunity to analyze the case and its management. Each participant will have the opportunity to be the prime manager of at least one scenario and to be a backup team in other scenarios.

The Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Opioid Conference: A United Front aims to highlight the shift in guidelines and public concern regarding the use of opioids in medical practice. This course provides the most up-to-date information regarding the appropriate indication for opioids in clinical practice. Topics cover the basics of opioid pharmacology and selection, evidence-based guidelines for opioid management, and opioid tapering, as well as medical and interventional alternatives to opioids. In addition, the course covers a broad range of issues, including opioid use disorder and difficult patient conversations and guidelines to standardize the practice of opioid prescribing. This course includes lectures by experts in the field of pain medicine and opioid management as well as question and answer sessions.
