April 26, 2027 - April 28, 2027 - Hawks Cay Resort - Duck Key, Florida
This activity prepares healthcare professionals to manage conditions in beach, coastal, and marine environments. Through interdisciplinary lectures, hands-on training, and simulations, participants will learn to treat environmental injuries, marine stings and bites, dive-related illness, and infectious diseases while enhancing provider safety, resilience, and real-world clinical skills.
Millions of Americans travel to coastal destinations each year, and beach-related recreation remains one of the most common outdoor activities, with approximately 78 million Americans visiting beaches annually. Additionally, 70% of Americans reported plans to take a beach vacation in 2026. As a result, clinicians across the country—not just those practicing in coastal regions—may encounter patients with marine envenomation, waterborne infections, heat-related illness, drowning events, environmental exposures, and travel-associated conditions after vacation travel. Despite the frequency of these presentations, many providers receive limited formal training in beach and coastal medicine. This activity addresses the need for evidence-based, practical education that improves the recognition, evaluation, and management of these conditions in emergency, urgent care, primary care, and hospital settings nationwide.
