"The Evolution of Clinical and Translational Research at Mayo Clinic"
The infrastructure for supporting clinical research at Mayo Clinic has undergone major changes over the past several years. The old General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) has transitioned to the new Clinical Research and Trials Unit (CRTU) using a very different funding model. As a CTSA site, the Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCaTS) is very much part of regional and national consortia. CCaTS has also developed a number of new facilitators for clinical and translational research, including the Office of Translation to Practice (OTP), Office of Clinical Trials (OCT), as well as partnerships with the CSHCD (LHSNet). We continue to offer an array of educational program for career development for junior faculty as well as post-doctoral training programs. There are also major efforts in bidirectional community engagement in all phases of translational research. All these activities support CCaTS’ mission to “Support the entire spectrum of clinical and translational research and education at Mayo.”
