Mayo Clinic's Endocrine Update course (MayoEndo2016) is designed for endocrinologists and interested internists and surgeons.The course focuses on gaps in medical knowledge and barriers in clinical practice in order to improve the outcomes of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.

The program will consist of lectures, debates, panel discussions, clinicopathologic sessions, “clinical pearls” sessions, informal breakfast and round table discussions, and small group discussions with experts. There will be several opportunities for interaction with course faculty.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the impact of closed-loop systems and novel insulins in the management of the patient with diabetes.
  • Develop a strategy for the best choice of glucose lowering therapy for the patient with Type 2 diabetes.
  • Recognize radiologic and clinical characteristics of the patient with an incidental thyroid nodule that would warrant observation versus biopsy.
  • Identify the patient who would benefit from medical or endoscopic interventions for weight loss.
