Title: "Managing Serious Illness-Associated Pain in Patients with Risky Substance Use and/or Substance Use Disorders"

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the unique needs of patients living with both a medical serious illness and a substance use disorder.
  • Develop a comprehensive pain management plan tailored to patients with increased risks associated with substance use.
  • Recognize buprenorphine as the drug of choice for managing pain in patients with ongoing substance use.
