This immersive, simulation-based workshop will provide participants with practical training in the recognition and management of acute sideline emergencies and sports-related trauma. Using realistic case scenarios and team-based simulations, attendees will practice rapid assessment, stabilization, and emergency decision-making for conditions commonly encountered during athletic events. Topics will include concussion evaluation, cervical spine injuries, sudden cardiac arrest, heat illness, fractures, airway emergencies, and return-to-play considerations. 

Target Audience

This program highlights key topics in sports medicine, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment strategies. It is designed for athletic trainers, physical therapists, primary care providers, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, and other healthcare professionals interested in this field. It also promotes evidence-based, patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate evidence-based assessment and management of common sideline emergencies and traumatic sports injuries, including concussion, cervical spine injury, heat illness, fractures, and sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Apply team-based communication, emergency action planning, and return-to-play decision-making skills during high-fidelity sports medicine simulation scenarios.
