This course is designed to update physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare providers practicing clinical gastroenterology and hepatology about new approaches to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Faculty present data on multiple topics including general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal neoplasia, esophageal diseases, motility, nutrition, pancreaticobiliary disorders, endoscopy and hepatology.

Thursday afternoon IBD symposium, will focus on several aspects of the care of patients with IBD, including dysplasia surveillance, managing psychologic issues, extraintestinal manifestations of IBD, microscopic colitis and mastering the prior authorization process. This symposium also includes several case discussions involving multiple experts.

Video presentations on complex endoscopy cases and new technology will be presented by expert endoscopists. Controversies in diagnosis and management will be analyzed in panel discussions.

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare providers practicing in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review updates in management of patients with chronic pancreatitis.
  • Summarize changes to treatment guidelines for helicobacter pylori infection.
  • Highlight new pharmaceutical options for patients with chronic constipation.
  • Define a care pathway for patients with severe diverticulitis.
  • Discuss updates in treatment protocols for patients with ulcerative colitis.
  • Summarize treatment options for patients diagnosed with chronic viral hepatitis.
  • Describe current practices in emergent endoscopic hemostasis.
  • Define options for intervention in patients with refractory acid reflux disease.
